Questions about buying a scanner
Questions about digital cameras
Is my digital camera really a scanner?
Yes. And it has the same problems as a scanner which require image
editing software to correct. Some of these features, such as
Sharpening, happen onboard the camera.
How can I eliminate jaggy lines in my images?
Before snapping the picture, check that any prominent lines in the
image are horizontal or vertical...not at an angle.
How can I improve the color of printed images
from my digital camera?
Use Image Editing features explained in Scanning
for Kids of All Ages, especially the histogram. Make and save
changes, such as brightness and contrast, before printing at home
or taking to drugstore to be printed.
Which format should I use to save digital
camera images?
Depending on your digital camera, it is possible to save images in
three formats: jpg/jpeg compressed; jpg/jpeg uncompressed; and
TIF/TIFF. If you plan to print images, you should save as jpg/jpeg
uncompressed or TIF/TIFF. These files are large. Images for email
distribution, can be saved as either jpg/jpeg compressed or
uncompressed. Compressed jpg/jpeg files are the smallest file size.

Questions about Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
Does my scanner have OCR software?
Yes, every scanner comes with a lite version of OCR.
Why doesn't my OCR software work?
The OCR software must be installed at the beginning of the scanner
installation. If you didn't install it or there is a problem, remove
the scanner software, and then reinstall the OCR software first.
When should I use OCR software?
